Careless

In ancient China, Song dynasty, there was a painter in the capital city. He was such a careless man that he drawed whatever he liked. One day, a customer came to the painter’s house and asked him to draw a tiger. The painter did it as the guest’s request. He draw carlessly within a minute. As a result, the picture turned out to be neither like a horse nor a tiger. The guest got confused and asked him ，”what it was?” The painter impatiently replied,”hortiger”。 The guest didn’t like it and went away. On the contrary, the paitner thought it was a very good painting. He was so self-conceit that he couldn’t see what’s wrong with his painting. He put it on the wall in the dinning hall for appreciation and then did his housework. After a while, his elder son saw the painting when he came home. He asked his father what he drawed in the painting. The painter answered,”Tt is a tiger”。 And a moment later ， his younger son got home and also saw the painting in the dinning hall. He was curious about it and asked his father what it was. “A horse”， his father replied without thought.

Several days went by. His elder son went off hunting. He mistook a farmer’s horse for a tiger and killed it. The painter had to apologized to the farmer for killing his horse and paid back. But troubles never come single. His yonger son ran into a tiger as he was travelling. Like his brother, he couldn’t tell a tiger from a horse. Thus, he got eaten by the tiger. The painter was devastated by his death. He burned the painting with tears and sorrows and regreted so much that he wrote a poem to remind himself of his carlessness. “马虎图，马虎图，似马又似虎，长子依图射死马，次子依图喂了虎。草堂焚毁马虎图，奉劝诸君莫学吾。”

Behind the tiger, there is a tortoise. The little tortoise sees it; he bites the tiger’s tail. “Ouch!” cries the tiger and he looks back. The frog hears the voice and jumps into water. “Thank you, little tortoise.” says the frog.

But the tiger is very angry. “Bother it! I’ll throw you to the sky!” “Thank you, I like flying in the sky,” says the tortoise. The tiger stops, “I will throw you into the river.”

“Oh,no! I can’t swim; I will die if you throw me into the water.” The tiger threw the tortoise into the water quickly. “Thank you, Mr. Tiger. Bye-bye.” The tortoise and the frog swim away together.
